We made the mistake of using 'rubber' feed bowls when the LGD's were young. If the dogs weren't chewing up the bowls, they were carting them off and we played 'find the bowl' daily. We came up with this idea. We switched to the tin feeder bowl and we took a screw and ran it through the bottom of the dish right into a chunk of a 6x6. No more chewing and no more lost bowls.
We also took a plastic tote box and cut it in half - then screw it into a barn side or a tree. This provides protection from rain and snow if your dog doesn't eat right away.
